OVERVIEW: The Data Management Analyst is responsible for assisting the Data & Analytics Manager with clinical data management. This position will support electronic data capture system design and testing, data cleaning and quality control, data transfers and merging of files, data queries, ad-hoc reports, and real-time dashboards. This position works cross-organizationally to ensure data quality, report real-time data for investigators and staff, and document standard operating procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors’ degree or equivalent work experience required
• 4-6 years’ of related experience desired
• 1-4 years’ of clinical data management experience preferred
• Experience with data entry systems, quality control, dataset creating and maintenance
• Knowledge of relational databases and basic SQL; proficient using REDCap for data collection/import/export
• Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication
• Previous experience with collating and presenting real-time data/metrics; PowerBI and/or Tableau preferred
• Intermediate or advanced skills with Excel and other Microsoft Software; familiarity with Microsoft Access and VBA macros preferred
• Experience with setting up and training end users on Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems
• Capability to write scripts and perform matrix analysis using R, SQL, and/or Python
• Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor
• Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner
• Ability to investigate data issues and participate in remediation activities
• Statistical and data analysis skills are a must to assist gathering and solving data quality issues
• Ability to review detailed documents to validate data in operating systems.
• Experience in writing requirements
• Excel Macros experience a plus
• Familiarity with IDC9 and IDC10 coding

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Completes data requirements and plans for the full data life cycle from project conception to longer term data storage
• Responsible for the extraction, aggregation and quality assurance of data from multiple studies, as needed, in support of project reporting, operational reporting and quantitative analyses of utilization
• Works with clinical research teams to implement CRF’s in Redcap and manage data transfers from survey engines such as Qualtrics and other existing systems
• Conforms EDC design to public registries and federal repositories by using existing Common Data Elements and forms, or defining new Unique Data Elements and forms to promote open collaborative science
• Assists in the design and research protocols, including data collection plans, data management plans, and privacy and confidentiality plans
• Develops internal Data Management Plans and Data Dictionaries; maintains SOP’s and other documentation
• Supports and trains data entry personnel when studies initiate, and as data entry forms are added or modified
• Recommends operating methods to improve processing, distribution, data flow, collection and database editing procedures, to optimize data quality and automate data collection and management processes
• Oversees quality assurance for all study databases, tests data to identify data integrity issues, makes recommendations, and plans solutions based on research goals
• Provides research and management ad-hoc reports as requested, maintains real-time dashboards
• Completes other projects and duties as assigned
